Precast Concrete Systems and Development Issues

August 1st, 2011

In the structures of construction with concrete materials, known as 3 common development methods, i.e. the Conventional System, Formwork System and Precast Systems.

Conventional system is a method that uses traditional materials of wood and plywood as formwork and scaffolding. Formwork system has moved one step forward from the conventional system with use of system formwork and scaffolding of metal material.

Formwork system is divided into two, namely Outinord System and Mivan System. Outinord system using steel materials while the Mivan System using aluminum materials.

In the precast system, all components of buildings can be fabricated and installed in place were built. The process of making components can be done with good quality control.

Precast System Development Issues

There are three major problems in the development of the precast system:

  1. Reliability of connections between components.
  2. The absence of specific planning guidelines for precast structural system.
  3. Cooperation with the planners, in other related fields, especially with the architecture and mechanical.
